About Papa Stour
Scottish designer and stylist Rosie Brown formed Papa Stour in 2005 to expose and sell works from some of Scotland's brightest and most exciting artists and designers. Our designers regularly exhibit work at top UK Exhibitions such as ORIGIN, Gifted, Top Drawer, Selvedge, and New Designers One Year On in London.
Rosie is a Scottish designer and stylist, and is passionate about showcasing contemporary Scottish design and craft, and says:
“My career started with a Printed Textiles Degree, at Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee followed by a Masters at Glasgow School of Art, and I spent several years in London as a Freelance Stylist working with publications such as Elle Decoration, Living etc, White Company.
I was then inspired to get back to designing with a range of Harris Tweed products and with that came the evolution of the website Papa Stour to sell Scottish designed work to an International Market.
I believe the Scottish Design and Craft Scene to be one of Europe's most vibrant and at the moment we are experiencing a real growth in the number of high quality designer makers who come out of Art Schools producing innovative, exciting work. Papa Stour selects work to showcase really excellent Scottish Collections of the creativity of these designers and artists.”
Papa Stour is based in the picturesque fishing village of Pittenweem in Fife - an area renowned as being an artists paradise and which hosts the annual "PIttenweem Arts Festival" each August.Our artists and designers are involved in different disciplines but they all have talent, flair and in some cases pure eccentricity!
The essence of the collection is a contemporary mix of ceramics, silver, leather and textiles from all over Scotland. The pieces we offer are not "off the shelf" objects that can be delivered next day - they are made in small batches and often unique.
Each piece is considered, as something which you will love in your own home, or to gift to someone special. Just as when you visit a gallery, be prepared to browse and enjoy Papa Stour.
