Nicola - Knitwear

Nicola is an experienced Knitwear Designer for Ladies, Men’s, Children/Baby and Accessories. Her career has spanned positions in London and New York following her graduation from Glasgow School of Art. After almost 8 years overseas she is now living back in Scotland and enjoying being creative again designing her Mini McGhee ranges.

Nicola is inspired by timeless, traditional knit and embroidery textiles. Items that growing up were all around and always used. Now Nicola delights in finding these nostalgic textiles and is inspired all over again. Always amazed at the workmanship, Nicola aims to reuse, revitalize, and reinvent these traditional Scottish handcraft skills into contemporary designs for baby and home. Mini McGhee offers exclusive hand-knitted / crocheted baby blankets and cushions that complement a range of one-off vintage patchwork woven accessories.

‘Made in Scotland’ is important to Nicola and Mini McGhee only uses yarn spun in the UK and locally sources all other fabrics and materials. Quite often the authentic hand embroidered textiles come with a story of their origins. Mini McGhee items are lovingly hand-made and like Granny intended, Nicola encourages them to be handed down.............
