Alison - Jeweller - Glasgow

Through using a wide range of materials, techniques and imagery I reflect the eclectic nature of my subject matter in a quirky way. I use silver, beaded wire to echo the intense decoration found in Victorian jewellery. By combining this with silver and gold individual wax castings, flat pierced shapes, found objects and semi precious stones I aim to create thought provoking pieces.
I have a fascination with junk shops and flea markets. A random jumble of objects juxtaposed in unpredictable ways: brass door knobs lie among worn hammers and plastic buttons in drawers. Amongst the jumble I love the individual objects themselves. Mysterious fragments of peoples’ pasts, each narrative enclosed within the dents and scratches of its imperfections. It is these precious qualities that I aim to incorporate into my jewellery.
I work full time from my studio in Glasgow, Scotland.
