Kate - Designer - Melrose
Inspired by traditional knitting in Scotland, Kate’s collections embrace Scottish knitwear manufacture, challenging tradition with an eclectic use of colour, texture and pattern.
After studying textiles in the Scottish Borders, Kate worked for a local Woollen Spinner for 5 years as a yarn and knit fabric designer. Drawn to the raw material and colours which she worked with, Kate began to create her own knitted accessories to illustrate the versitility of the company’s yarn ranges.
There soon followed a series of freelance design projects and in Spring 2000, Kate set up her design studio and workshop. The following year her first collection of knitted accessories was launched.
Featured in magazines such as Homes and Gardens, Red, The Sunday Times and other high profile publications; Kate’s designs are for women with an eye for beauty and a quirky sense of style.
