Yvonne - Jeweller - Gourock
After studying and working in London for many years Yvonne returned home to Scotland in 2002, initially to Glasgow. In 2006 she relocated to the beautiful Clyde coast where she now has her workshop designing and making all her jewellery by hand.
Yvonne sees her work as a journey from simplicity to complexity through the manipulation of form.
Using traditional precious materials and handskills in a process of consturction and repetition, she creates contemporary studio jewellery with a sculptural presence in which elements fuse and develop beyond their original components in an exploration of volume and movement.
Through observation and collation of images, textures and objects that inspire, she develops ideas initially with simple line drawings then further expansion through model making and 'play' - a process that is key in the development of her designs which continue to evolve whilst at the bench.
Recent work represents both organic and geometric forms where symmetry and asymmetry co-exist and the use of a restrained pallete combined with surface patination is employed to create an innate sense of elegance.
