Ceramics

These delightful pieces of ceramics and bone china are a pleasure to look at with Rachel making simple ceramic forms that remain true to the purity of porcelain. Each piece begins life as a model from which a plaster mould is made. Once this stage is complete slip is poured into the mould, creating replicas of the original. It is then hand finished and glazed before being fired 2 or 3 times.

Andrea works with bone china clay combined with paper and makes sculptural vessels which are each unique yet compliment each other as a series of works. Using a slipcasting technique the paper behaves as a strengthener enabling her to achieve an extremely fine shell of clay. Through controlled firing the forms become fluid and begin to slump and distort whilst in the kiln - as a result each piece has its own individual characteristics and shape.

Tom's Loch Long Stoneware range is inspired by back to basics rustic living. Originating as a range of simple, functional items designed for family and friends, and has now developed into a full and rapidly expanding collection of earthy, multi-functional and robust pieces ideal for everyday living.

Any one of these beautiful pieces would make a wonderfully unique gift for someone a bit special!
